At Brady UX, we're always on the lookout for innovation that aligns with our mission of improving lives through thoughtful and user-centered design. During DC Tech and Startup Week, I had the privilege of meeting Felipe Restrepo, the visionary behind Odaptos, a groundbreaking tool that is redefining customer research. Felipe’s passion for technology, behavioral psychology, and human-centered design left a profound impression on us.
Recently, Olya Androsik (my cofounder) and I sat down with Felipe to dive deeper into his work and explore potential synergies between Odaptos and Brady UX.
What is Odaptos?
Felipe introduced us to Odaptos, a powerful multilingual and GDPR-compliant system that combines AI-driven sentiment recognition, facial analysis, and tonal processing to decode human emotions during user research. This approach goes beyond traditional methods by tracking micro-expressions, intonation, and even gaze direction, offering a multidimensional understanding of user feedback.
Odaptos simplifies and supercharges the research process. Felipe shared examples where his system summarized weeks of manual note-taking into actionable insights within minutes, providing real-time emotional analysis for stakeholders.
The Power of Emotional Analysis
One aspect that stood out during our conversation was the universal nature of emotions. While languages and cultural contexts may vary, Felipe emphasized that emotions are inherently human and transcend linguistic barriers. His system, capable of processing 144 languages, adapts to regional differences in expression and tonality. This feature is invaluable for global companies conducting research across diverse markets.
As Felipe demonstrated Odaptos' ability to visually map user emotions, he explained how this tool empowers teams to pinpoint pain points and create more empathetic solutions. The ability to synthesize and share insights through visual and narrative summaries ensures that no nuance is lost in translation.
Addressing Industry Challenges
The conversation also touched on the challenges many organizations face with user research. From limited budgets to small teams, conducting in-depth studies is often seen as a luxury. Felipe’s vision is to democratize access to robust customer research tools, enabling companies of all sizes to uncover actionable insights.
At Brady UX, we resonated deeply with this mission. As Felipe explained how Odaptos could eliminate cognitive biases often present in focus groups, we reflected on our own challenges with traditional user interviews. This technology has the potential to streamline our workflows and bring unparalleled efficiency and depth to our research process.
Collaboration Opportunities
Beyond the technological marvel of Odaptos, Felipe’s story is one of resilience and global perspective. From his design roots in Colombia to leading a design department of over 100 in San Francisco and pursuing a Master’s in Paris, Felipe embodies a unique blend of technical expertise and cultural adaptability.
At Brady UX, we are thrilled by the possibility of integrating Odaptos into our toolkit. By leveraging its capabilities, we envision saving time, reducing costs, and enhancing the quality of our user insights. Together, we can explore how emotional analysis and AI-driven research redefine design thinking.
Looking Ahead
As Felipe’s parting words reminded us, innovation is not just about technology; it’s about understanding people. At Brady UX, we couldn’t agree more. Whether through crafting user-centric designs or developing innovative tools, our focus is always on creating solutions that truly resonate.
We look forward to collaborating with Felipe and exploring how Odaptos can elevate our work. Stay tuned for updates as we continue to push the boundaries of what’s possible in UX design!
